"Tuskegee Airmen" refers to all who were involved in the so-called "Tuskegee Experience", the Army Air Corps program to train African Americans to fly and maintain combat aircraft. The Tuskegee Airmen included pilots, navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors, and all the personnel who kept the planes in the air.

Youth In Aviation

One of the most important of TAI's activities is the promotion, creation and support of both local-chapter and national-organization youth and scholarship programs particularly for minority and disadvantaged young people. TAI's chapters use the life lessons learned from the legacy of the original Tuskegee Airmen--determination, courage, refusal to accept limits, the ability to seize opportunity--to teach career and leadership lessons in a variety of aviation-themed educational programs on a local level. TAI itself also supports nationally an active, well-endowed Scholarship Foundation.

This page offers access to TAI's extensive quarterly youth-programs newsletter as well as supplementary information that periodically will be provided by TAI chapters with youth programs. It will also provide downloadable educational resources accessible to TAI members.

NASA Announces Space Exploration Design Channel

Students can design and build radiation shielding hardware to fly on the first flight test of the Orion spacecraft in 2014. Please distribute to your networks so parents and educators can sign-up for this opportunity to help grow a K-12 STEM pipeline.
